The Bangala – Karaikudi (Tamilnadu)

On the outskirts of Karaikudi, the largest town in the Chettinad zone, is a small complex of old rustic buildings that is today famous as The Bangala. The Chettinad zone is famous for its cuisine as much for its traditional cultural practices. Once home to the affluent Chettiar community, the property is an old fascinating bungalow converted into a hotel but even today retains the look and feel of an old Chettiar house.The bungalow in itself is a destination and exploring its interiors while availing of the opportunity to taste some lip smacking Chettinad cuisine is pure delight. Spending a night there, like the Chettiars of bygone era, is an experience that one carries with him for the rest of the life.

Activities :
As we have already mentioned, the house in itself is a destination. So go on a tour of the entire house. This is of course, in addition to the visits to the local township, temples and its byelanes that we organize. Not visited by many tourists, this place offers one to come in contact with the local in a way that one cannot imagine of in more touristy places. And for the food lovers, not only can we organize a gala fest but also classes to learn to cook the local cuisine as well!!
